Most parents aren’t ready for that middle-of-the-night phone call from their teenage son or daughter from the local jail, trying to tell their mom or dad that they’ve been arrested for drunk driving.
If this happens to you, what should you do to get your teen back home as quickly as you can?
“It isn’t uncommon for us to get late-night phone calls from worried parents who don’t know what to do after their teen has been arrested,” said Inessa Chavez, vice president of All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita. “The first step is to call us, and we can help walk you through the process.”
After contacting a licensed bail bonds company like All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita, the next step is to pay the premium cost of the bond, which is 10 percent of the total bail amount in California.

“Some people may qualify for a rebate for 20 percent off the cost of their bond,” Chavez said. “We can help you determine if you are eligible.”
Collateral is sometimes required to help ensure your teen comes to all scheduled court appearances, including their judgement day. Collateral will be returned when the entire premium is paid and after all court appearances have been made.

Once the premium is paid, documents are signed and information is verified, the bail agent can post the bond at the jail. The process can take a short time or up to several hours depending on the circumstances, according to the Bail Resource Center & Academy.
“The defendant is released after the bond is posted,” Chavez said. “At All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita, we make every effort to help ensure the speedy release of your teen or loved one from jail.”
