In the case you or a loved one are arrested, the bail agents at All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita want the community to know what to expect during the arrest and booking process.
After being arrested, the person will be brought to a local police department or sheriff’s station with a holding facility or jail, according to the Bail Resource Center & Academy.
“In the state of California, the booking process can take some time depending on how big and how busy the station is,” said Inessa Chavez, vice president of All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita. “Sometimes booking can be completed in an hour; sometimes it can take several hours.”
The detainee is searched for weapons and drugs, and their personal belongings are catalogued and retained by the jailer during the booking process. In addition, fingerprinting, a background check, warrant check and processing into the computer system must also be conducted.

Following fingerprinting, the arrestee is brought to a jail cell, where they will be given phone access either at the jailer’s convenience or through a payphone in their cell.
This phone access is usually used to either call a loved one, who can contact a bail bonding company like All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita, or to call a bail bonding company directly.

“The bail agent will need to know a few important details,” Chavez explained. “They’ll want to know what jail you’re in, what you’ve been arrested for, your bail amount, if you’re employed and what roots you have in the community to qualify you for bail.”
Bail is set during the booking process if the defendant is eligible. After processing is completed, a bail bond may be posted so the defendant can be released. Arraignments generally take place within approximately four weeks.
