Every year, updates are made to the local bail schedule by Superior Court of California, Los Angeles officials, and currently available online is the 2016 Felony Bail Schedule.
Called the Los Angeles County Uniform Bail Schedule, law enforcement use the schedule to book and set bail for a person accused of a crime.
“Local arresting agencies like the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station use the schedule to quickly assign bail amounts at the jail so the defendant doesn’t have to wait to see a judge,” said Inessa Chavez, vice president of All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita. “It has hundreds of charges detailed along with the correct bail amounts.”
“The purpose of this bail schedule is to fix an amount upon which a person who is arrested without a warrant may be released from custody prior to appearance in court,” states the Los Angeles County 2016 Felony Bail Schedule.

In addition to “presumptive” bail listed for the numerous charges, additions to presumptive bail in certain cases are also included in the schedule.
The charge of murder comes with one of the most expensive bail amounts listed in the schedule: $2,000,000. However, a murder with special circumstance charge is not bailable, according to the schedule.
Listed charges that have a $1,000,000 bail amount include aggravated mayhem; kidnapping for purpose of felony sexual offense; kidnapping for ransom, robbery, sex offense, etc., including kidnapping a child under age 14 to deprive custody; kidnapping during a carjacking; false imprisonment – kidnap to evade arrest; train wrecking and others.
