The bail agents at All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita want the community to understand the importance of carefully going over your contract with your bail agent when buying a bail bond.
Contracts can often be complicated and sometimes confusing, and must always follow specific legal guidelines.
The California Bail Education textbook defines a contract as “an agreement with specific terms between two or more persons or entities in which there is a promise to do something in return for a valuable benefit known as consideration.”
“Bail contracts help both the bail agent and the client assure that terms will be met by both parties,” said Inessa Chavez, vice president of All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita. “A reputable, licensed bail bonding company will use a contract every time– both for the company’s protection and the client’s.”
So what components make up a contract? According to the textbook, contracts are composed of an offer, an offer acceptance, a promise to perform, consideration (payment or promise), a timeline for completion, terms and conditions and following through on performance.

Unilateral and bilateral contracts are the two primary kinds of contracts. The bail agents at All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita use bilateral contracts, according to Chavez.
While bilateral contracts include a promise being made in exchange for another promise, a unilateral contract is a promise to pay or offer other consideration in return for performance.
