All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita and other bail bonds businesses function in a way that can be confusing when looking in from the outside.
Inessa Chavez, vice president of All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita sat down with me to discuss how the bail bonds business and industry works.
Q: How can you be licensed as a bail bonds agent?
A: You must complete several hours of training classes and then you take an exam. If you pass, you are able to receive your bail license. Bail agents are certified by the California Department of Insurance. They must retake the exam every couple years.
Q: Is there a difference between a fugitive recovery agent and a bail agent?
A: They can be very similar. A fugitive recovery agent is usually sent to pick up someone who has been deemed a fugitive, or someone who has been bailed out by a bail agency but skipped their court date. Agencies like All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita can request a bail agent to pick-up fugitives who have skipped their court date.
Q: My family member was just arrested. What do I do?
A: Stay calm. We know this is a difficult time for you and we’re here to help. Call us at 888-755-2245. We will pay the money to get your family out of jail as soon as possible. All you have to do is pay us back with interest and give us some collateral which will be returned after you have paid us back.
Q: How long does it take to bail someone out of jail?
A: If someone is arrested and taken to a smaller law enforcement holding station, such as the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, it could take about four to six hours. If that person is taken to Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles, it could take more than 24 hours.
Q: Where can I find more information about how bail bonds work?
A: Visit the HomeTown Station’s bail bonds page or our Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita website. Also check out the All American Bail Bonds website.
