If you or your loved one has been arrested and charged with a crime, the bail bonds experts at All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita want the community to know what their options are when it comes to being released from jail.
One option is to post the full bail amount with the court in cash as a promise to appear at all scheduled court appearances, which would later be refunded after the promise has been kept.
“Depending on the charges, bail can range from thousands to millions of dollars,” said Inessa Chavez, vice president of All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita. “Most people just don’t have the ability to pay a cash bond.”
The option to be released on what’s known as “O.R.”, or Own Recognizance, also exists, but may only be granted by a judge under certain circumstances.

“Being released O.R. is rare,” Chavez said. “But in some cases, it is possible.”
A property bond is another rare release option, which allows the defendant to secure 100 percent of the bail amount by giving the court permission to hold lien on property.
Typically the most common release option is the use of a surety bond via a bail bonding company such as All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita.
“When you undertake bail through a surety bond, you only need to pay 10 percent of the total bail amount to the bail agent,” Chavez explained. “This is called the premium cost of the bond, which is regulated by the state.”

Payment plans and rebates are available to qualified individuals at All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita, and collateral can also be used in order to lower monthly payment amounts.
The premium cost of the bond is non-refundable; however, collateral is returned after the entire premium is paid and all court appearances are made, including the judgment day.
“The defendant is released from jail after the payment of the premium has been addressed, documents have been signed and information has been verified by the bail agent,” Chavez said. “The bond is fully exonerated after the trial is over and all conditions have been met, regardless of whether the defendant is found innocent or guilty.”
