The experts at All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita have extensive knowledge of the criminal justice system in California, so if you or a loved one are ever arrested and charged with a crime, they can help ensure your speedy release from jail.
According to the Bail Resource Center & Academy, the primary goals of the system are to provide public safety by deterring and preventing crime, incarcerate individuals who commit a crime and reintegrate criminals back into the community.
“Criminal sentencing laws are the basis for the criminal justice system,” said Inessa Chavez, vice president of All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita. “These laws define crimes and specify punishments.”
There are three categories of crime, which are classified based on the seriousness of the offense.

Felonies are the most serious type of crime and may result in the offender being sentenced to state prison for a minimum of one year. Murder, robbery, rape and burglary of a residence are just a few examples of felonies.
“Most offenses seen by bail bonds companies like All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita are felonies,” Chavez said.
Less serious than felonies are misdemeanors– such as assault, petty theft and public drunkenness –which may lead to the offender being sentenced to a fine, county jail, probation or a combination of these.

The least serious type of crime is called an infraction, which is typically punishable by a fine. Many motor vehicle citations, like speeding or running a red light, are infractions.
