Recently, there have been two cases of individuals charged with murder in the Santa Clarita Valley. Bail agents at All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita have explained why bail amounts can be different.
According to the Los Angeles County 2015 Felony Bail Schedule, the presumptive bail for murders is $1,000,000.
A murder with special circumstances is not bailable, however, according to the Bail Schedule.

Jessica Paige Greenback, 25, of Santa Clarita, was charged with premeditated murder, false imprisonment, two counts of attempted murder and child abuse in connection with a shooting on the 18000 block of Danielson Street on February 8, 2015, officials said.
Greenback is being held with a $1,000,000 bail.
Matthew Brendan Warner, 30, of Newhall, faces one charge of murder in the first degree after being accused of murdering his 19-day-old baby earlier this year, said Ricardo Santiago, spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.
The other charges including assault on a child causing death, torture, oral copulation or sexual penetration of a child under 10 and aggravated sexual assault will be dropped at sentencing as part of a plea agreement. Warner could face a possible 50 years to life in prison, Santiago said.
Warner is being held without bail.
“We try our best to ensure all of our clients at All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita can be bailed out,” said Inessa Chavez, vice president of All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita. “Unfortunately, there’s not much we can do if your loved one has been denied bail.”

“Setting bail is a matter of public safety and a number of reasons are factored in when setting or denying bail,” said Chavez. “Each case is looked at on a case-to-case basis.”
Factors can include if the defendant has a high risk of not showing up to his or her assigned court dates, poses a risk to the public or if the defendant has “skipped bail” previously.
“Murder in the Santa Clarita valley is not unheard of, but it does not happen a lot,” said Chavez.
