While agencies such as All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita bail out many people, there is the occasional case where an arrestee cannot be bailed out.
A man was arrested for an alleged parole violation on Monday, July 6, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.
Allegedly, William Robert Billingsley, 51, brandished a knife in front of his parents at their home in Valencia, officials said.
“We had a report of a family disturbance where the suspect was on parole got into an argument with the family,” Lt. Derek Sabatini with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, said in a previous story. “The family went outside and we tried talking him out of the house. He turned himself in and we are going to take him for a parole violation.
“The original report of assault with a deadly weapon appears to be untrue. There may have been a knife involved but no threat was made with the knife.”
Billingsley was in possession of a weapon, which is a parole violation, and parole violations results in no bail, according to officials.
Billingsley could have had $25,000 bail for suspicion of brandishing a knife, said officials.
“Unfortunately, there’s not much we can do if your loved one is being held on a parole violation,” said Inessa Chavez, vice president of All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita. “We can’t bail out your loved one if he or she is being held on a parole violation.”
A parole, or probation violation occurs when a person convicted of a crime breaks the terms of their probation, Chavez said. The person could receive more jail time, fines or extended probation, depending on how serious the violation or crime is.
“Stories of probation violation aren’t unheard of, but they don’t occur often,” Chavez said, adding that people have come into All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita looking to bail out loved ones who have been rearrested for a probation violation.
